Frequently asked questions

Why are Aids Fonds and STOP AIDS NOW! going forward under one name?

We are at a turning point in the AIDS response. We have all the knowledge and evidence we need to end the AIDS epidemic, but that does mean taking action now. For despite all the success that has been achieved, we are still not completely on track. If we do not make an urgent effort in our response to AIDS, the epidemic will continue and remain a threat.

UNAIDS has adopted a fast track strategy to put an end to AIDS by 2030. And the coming five years will determine the future. We can stop the epidemic, but only if we focus on the populations and regions most affected. And that is exactly where Aids Fonds and STOP AIDS NOW! enhance each other’s strengths.

What are the benefits of working under one name?

It will make our efforts to put AIDS on the political and social agenda even more efficient and effective. We are extremely worried about the future of the AIDS response. This epidemic, that has been one of the largest public health threats in human history, could escalate again at any time if we do not take action now. We must step up the response to AIDS. With one name, we have a louder voice and are in an even better position to improve our contribution to the global AIDS response.

Why has Aidsfonds been chosen as the new name?

Aids Fonds has been around for a long time, at the forefront of the AIDS response since the beginning of the epidemic. We believe that using the name connected to those many years of experience can put us in a stronger position on the path to the end of AIDS in 2030.
