Project
The numbers of irregular migrants increase rapidly in Turkey, mainly in Istanbul, coming from African and previous Soviet Union countries which have high prevalence of HIV/AIDS. They have no health service opportunity except emergency care. The purpose of this grant is to provide HIV/AIDS testing for irregular migrants in Istanbul that are diagnosed with TB; to change the public opinion to provide free of charge diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of HIV/AIDS; and to call politic attention to legislative regulations

To improve HIV tetsing and treatment among irregular migrants in Istanbul and to influence the public opinion for provide free of charge HIV diagnosis, treatment
and follow-up by the government for this group
Community groups
Approximately 200 irregular immigrants diagnosed with TB and 400 suspected to live with HIV will be tested
Background
The number of irregular migrants increase rapidly in Turkey mainly in Istanbul. Irregular migrants in Turkey have no health service opportunity except emergency care.
Being a communicable disease tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment and follow-up is free for irregular migrants but HIV/AIDS cases are not.
