Dignity, diversity and Policing
Last updated on: 27 February 2024

Since 2015 the South African Police Service (SAPS) has participated in stakeholder consultations to enhance the quality of service delivery. Based on the findings a training manual was developed to train police officers on key population rights: Dignity, Diversity and Policing- promotion and protection of human rights, dignity and safety for all. The training aims to help police officers challenge stereotypes, biases and misinformation they might have about specific groups of people and improve how they respond to and treat people from vulnerable groups, specifically, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people, sex workers and people who use drugs.
