Sparked Women vloggers

Vloggers Sophy, Angel, Brenda and Lydia from Kampala. These 4 youth reporters have captured the journeys of several Sparked Women towards becoming successful micro-entrepreneurs. The 4 girls have been trained for this vlogging project by Sawa World under main supervision of Nathan Binomugisha, media documentation director at Sawa World with Dennis Onen, a professional Ugandan filmmaker and founder of Cinelab Akademie Initiative in a mentoring and advisory role.

Sophy

“I envision to be the best vlogger who will inspire young girls out there to also be strong and stick to their future”

Angel

“I applied to be a vlogger because I have great passion for the camera. I love telling a story, making a video that will touch someone’s heart”

Brenda

“I‘m a change maker using videos to inspire young girls who feel that they cannot do anything and yet they can do something and actually be proud of themselves”

Lydia

“This project has helped me realize that it could be me contracting HIV. So I have become more open to make informed health choices”

Sparked Women project

The Sparked Women project aims to reduce HIV infections in adolescent girls and young women by tackling unemployment. Aidsfonds is introducing two proven business models to Uganda to create 7,729 local jobs. At the same time, we are setting up a sustainable community health delivery system. Sparked Women enables 729 community health volunteers to become small business owners. They sell essential health products, and alert their peers to the importance of HIV prevention and other sexual health topics. A second model offers 7,000 young women self-employment opportunities through training in practical skills. More about Sparked Women
