A true LGBT activist

Richard Lusimbo is a Ugandan LGBT activist, documentary filmmaker and public speaker who gained international attention when he was outed in a Ugandan tabloid newspaper for being gay. He has since gone on to gain recognition as the Research and Documentation Manager at Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG), the leading LGBTI umbrella advocacy organisation in Uganda since 2012. In 2012 he also became the Chair of African Research Team for Envisioning Global LGBT Human Rights and co-directed the documentary on the anti-homosexuality movement in Uganda.

Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Visit our COVID-19 page to learn how the AIDS response is affected and working in the current circumstances.
