The Development team is an integral part of the organisation and plays a key role in securing long-term financial stability and growth. The team is self-steering and now consists of three people responsible for Business Development, Major Giving, and Institutional Fundraising, reporting directly to the Manager Marketing & Communications. The Business Development lead is responsible for identifying and pursuing new opportunities for growth, including exploring new and innovative models, and increasing scale and sustainability. The Major Giving Lead is responsible for cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations to secure donations. The Institutional Fundraising lead is responsible for securing grants from government agencies, non-profits or other organisations that can provide significant funding for specific programmes.
To further achieve these objectives, the team is seeking a
Relationship manager (32 hours per week)
The Relationship manager will help increase partnerships, networks, and new business opportunities to ensure a future proof and adequately resourced organisation. The Relationship manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, identifying potential partners and donors, and developing customised strategies and policies to engage them effectively. This also includes writing compelling propositions, proposals and other outreach documents. The Relationship manager will provide technical support and advice to colleagues as part of our organisational focus on strengthening our fundraising culture. The Relationship manager will report to the Manager Marketing & Communications.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Cultivating new and existing relationships and networks of partners, stakeholders, and relevant corporate and institutional donors, in close collaboration with staff across the organisation
- Promote Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland to new and existing supporters, partners, stakeholders, and donors
- Lead on establishing and developing corporate partnerships
- Keep up to date with trends and seek new business opportunities for major donors, innovative business, financing models, innovations institutional fundraising
- Provide technical support and advice to Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland colleagues on relationship management and fundraising
Requirements and competences
- Excellent networking and relationship manager skills, - and the ability to motivate partners and funders to support Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland
- An ability to understand Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland vision and purpose and translate that into an inspiriting and motivating message
- Experience in an international NGO and/or a funder is an advantage
- Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV, and/or global health is an advantage.
- Wide experience and a proven track record in relationship management, business development and institutional fundraising
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to connect with a range of different stakeholders
- Experience in developing compelling propositions and proposals to a range of stakeholders
- A creative and entrepreneurial spirit with strong negotiation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- You have a strong strategic mindset and a collaborative spirit
- You are a self-starter and able to set and achieve your own goals, in line with our organisational focus on servant leadership
- You work well in a team, and have a sense of humour
- Fluent English communication skills are required. An ability to read and understand Dutch and/or French is an advantage
- Resident in the Netherlands

- You will be offered a fixed term contract of a year, after which the contract can be extended for an indefinite period of time in case of a positive performance evaluation and if there are sufficient financial resources
- A salary between € 3,571 and € 5,466 gross per month (for 36 hours) according to salary scale 11, grading takes place depending on your experience
- An individual choice budget (IKB) of 16.96% that you can use as you wish
- Hybrid working: You will work at our office in Amsterdam (Sloterdijk) and/or partly from home. There is also the possibility of flexible working hours and setting your own agenda
- NS business card for all public transport for your commute to work
- You have 208 hours of leave on a full-time basis (36 hours) and you can buy extra leave via the IKB
- A personal development budget of € 650 per year based on a 36-hour working week
