Over 50 representatives and activists from key population organisations and networks gathered to discuss opportunities for joint initiatives and action in 2019 and 2020 to ensure a sustainable and lasting impact on the HIV and AIDS response.

Mark Vermeulen, Director of Aidsfonds, H.E. Mr Ed Hoeks, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ukraine and Prof. Nataliia Nizova, Advisor to the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine gave introductory remarks during the opening. In addition, the representatives were informed of the latest report on UHC, in which the experiences of four PITCH countries, Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda and Ukraine were investigated (Towards transformative Integration of the HIV and AIDS response into Universal Health Coverage: Building on the strengths and successes of the HIV and AIDS response).

During the two-day gathering, participants brainstormed on a host of practical and feasible recommendations. One of those was on how PITCH and country partners could best address the existing issues around universal health coverage. These and other recommendations will be shared after the event with all the attendees.
