“Looking forward to more meetings like this!”

On September 2, an inspiring webinar about paediatric HIV case finding took place for Aidsfonds’ partners working towards the elimination of HIV in children. A total of 46 participants from 9 partners in 6 countries joined the session to share best practices and learn from each other.

A wide variety of questions

How to keep track of referrals to the clinic? What is the role of traditional birth attendants in finding children living with HIV? What are key questions asked in a vulnerability assessment? How are you able to sustain nutritional support for all families of identified children? What psychosocial support services do you provide to children living with HIV at household level?

These were some from a wide variety of questions from the very attentive and active participants in response to the two presentations held. Musa Hove of SAfAIDS in Zimbabwe shared the way of working and lessons from the Find, Test, Treat 1000 programme and Aisha Dadi from Society for Family Health in Nigeria those from the Lafiyan Yara programme.

A start to inspire to connect

“I hope this webinar is a start that will inspire community-based partners to connect more regularly to discuss and further improve  their work”, says Eliane Vrolings of Aidsfonds and co-organiser of the webinar. “The turn-up was really high. Our own learning point is to allocate more time for in-depth discussions and questions coming from the group. It was inspiring to see the dedication and enthusiasm of our partners to learn from each other. To be continued, so to say!”

The goal of this initiative is to gear up mutual exchange, sharing of results and good practices and potentially ignite collaborations for the future between Aidsfonds’ paediatric HIV partners. Seen the success of this webinar, it will be a first of a series.

The Aidsfonds Paediatric HIV Linking & Learning Initiative

The overall goal of the initiative is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the paediatric HIV response towards children living with or exposed to HIV, closing the paediatric HIV gap. Specific objectives are to facilitate a learning exchange between Aidsfonds implementing partners; to generate evidence and document scalable, sustainable community based intervention models; and to use this evidence to inform future programming and policies
