The desk review will be done using published scientific research, articles, grey reports, government data, facility data, data from CSOs, etc. The desk review has the following objectives:

• Determine what country policies and relevant studies say about availability, affordability and accessibility of HIV self-test kits for adolescents and young people (10-24);
• Assess the actual availability and accessibility of HIV self-test kits for adolescents and young people (10-24) in the set geographical focus area;
• Evaluate the affordability of HIV self-test kits for adolescents and young people (10-24), considering the cost in relation to their income and economic status;
• Identify barriers and facilitators that affect utilization of HIV self-test kits among adolescents and young people (10-24) in relation to availability, affordability and accessibility;
• Provide practical (in-country) advocacy asks to improve the availability, affordability, and accessibility of HIV self-test kits for adolescents and young people (10-24).

The results from the desk review, will further inform potential follow-up studies in-country, for example an analysis of young people’s motives and context that hamper and/or facilitate the use of HIV self-test kits.
