AI for Good Global Summit (28-31 May 2019) and HIV prevention
Aidsfonds is an active participant of the AI for Good Global Summit, from 28-31st May in Geneva, Switzerland. The AI (Artificial Intelligence) for Good Global Summit is the leading United Nations platform for global and inclusive dialogue on artificial Intelligence. Under the theme ‘Accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ the summit aims to identify practical applications of AI and supporting strategies to improve the quality and sustainability of life on the planet.
Artificial Intelligence and the fight against HIV & STI’s
Over the recent years, chatbots (automated chat services) have gained popularity in the digital health domain as a way of interacting with patients and the broader population.
Aidsfonds & UNAIDS Indonesia both developed a similar technological solution for a similar problem: using automated chat in the fight against HIV & STIs. Next to the similarities, Advies.chat (Aidsfonds) and Ask Marlo (UNAIDS) face very different challenges in terms of data privacy, artificial intelligence and voice input. Human behaviour and cultural differences can make coming to universal solutions a challenge.
Come and meet us at the conference!
During the AI for Good Global Summit Aidsfonds and UNAIDS Indonesia will compare notes to try and find a solution to a global problem. How do we learn if we do not have the luxury of making mistakes? Come and join the demo and the discussion:

- 29th of May – 11.00 @AI Health & Wellbeing Breakthrough – Chat on Chats – STI & HIV & Bots
Aidsfonds and digital health
Aidsfonds strongly believes that leveraging innovation is not optional, that it is essential to achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an inclusive Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the UNAIDS Fast Track targets (90-90-90). An increased connected world provides the opportunity to achieve these goals. More then 95 percent of the global population live in an area that is covered by a mobile-cellular network, and nearly 41 percent of people in developing countries have a mobile broadband subscription. Aidsfonds invests in digital health solutions through the framework of the Stepped Care Model for Sexual Health - “Having the right service in the right place, at the right time delivered by the right person.” This model facilitates the coordination of qualitative digital and offline solutions for Sexual Health.

ASK Marlo
Launched in 2018, AKS Marlo serves as a reliable go-to-source for all HIV-related information for young people in Jakarta, Indonesia, who are not reached through traditional HIV outreach programmes. By integrating Marlo into LINE, a chat messaging application popular among young people in Southeast Asia, users are able to ask any questions on HIV and get real time answers. By adding this chat bot in LINE, users can get interesting and relevant information about HIV. Most importantly, users can book appointments to get tested for HIV, as well as get connected to real-life counselors.
