330 organisations call for EC pledge ahead of Global Fund board meeting

On November 21, donors fell short of the Global Fund’s USD 18 billion target - a disappointing outcome at a time when increased support for HIV, TB and malaria is urgently needed. Now, 330 organisations worldwide are urging the European Commission to confirm a €800 million pledge ahead of the February 2026 Board Meeting. This would help ensure timely funding for country programmes and unlock €400 million in US matching funds. The Nov. 21 outcome fell short, but a stronger result is still possible - and the European Commission and EU Member States can play a key role, in line with Europe’s leadership in global health.

Identification of children for HIV treatment: Call for proposals 2026-2028

This open call for proposals invites community-based partners, medical institutions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to implement effective evidence-based approaches and interventions to reach new children and adolescents living with HIV (0-14) through testing and linking to anti-retroviral treatment and care in Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Nigeria.

The EmpowHER Fund: Call for Proposals

The EmpowHER Fund envisions a world where women and girls in all their diversity1 can truly use the HIV-prevention method of their choice. Yet, in sub-Saharan Africa girls and young women still bear the greatest burden of HIV infections, accounting for nearly 63% of all new infections, with those aged 15–24 being particularly vulnerable2. Too many of them, especially those experiencing intersecting vulnerabilities, face limited options to prevent themselves from HIV, leaving them stuck with methods that don’t fit their lives or worse, no methods at all. New and emerging HIV-prevention options, including the 6-monthly Lenacapavir, the two- monthly Apretrude, the Dual Prevention Pill and the Dapivirine vaginal ring,  offer a critical opportunity to expand choice and make sure women and girls find the method that best fit their needs.

Out of the shadows: Working with traditional birth attendants

Action for Community Care in Tanzania, Coalition of Women Living With HIV and AIDS in Malawi, and Society for Family Health in Nigeria are implementing the Kids to Care model. Through reflection and learning documentation, they have recognised the unique contribution that all cadres of community health service providers, especially traditional birth attendants, have had and continue to have in reducing vertical transmission and supporting effective care for children living with HIV.

Bringing Kids to Care programme – Best practices from Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi and Indonesia

The Aidsfonds Kids to Care model was built on evidence that strengthening community-based systems and building linkages between those systems and health services, increases identification, testing, treatment and retention in care for children, adolescents and pregnant and breastfeeding women. Now, more than ever, the Kids to Care model is critical to the wellbeing and health of children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women. The global community has committed to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 but this goal will not be reached without an embedded and sustainable community-based response. Aidsfonds’ partners in Indonesia, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia are working to contribute to the global goal by integrating the Kids to Care model into their work. This factsheet showcases their impact and outlines best practices for using this model in other contexts.
